The Journey is meant to be a map to help you move forward. A map is just one of those tools which help us assess where we are and where we are going. Without a map it is impossible to measure our life’s progress. Life runs by so quickly that it is hard sometimes to even realize movement. It is easy to get stuck. The stuff of life can get in the way and it seems we have made no progress in our journey with the Lord. Without a way to assess where we are and where we are going we are destined to haphazard progress. And in retrospect we look back and wonder what progress have we made in “our walk with Christ”. Our Faith walk is often called a journey and with good reason. This Journey is a process of moving deeper and deeper into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Christian faith comes in an instant but it takes a lifetime to grow and develop. Following Jesus means that you are pursuing His calling, to adapt the model of His life to yours and to join your life with His.

For several years now it has been the desire of Pastor Alec and the pastoral staff to have a system by which we the Body of Westgate Chapel might be able to track our spiritual growth toward maturity. Ephesians 4:15 describes that Journey to maturity as “growing up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ”.

Within the context of Sunday Services and Tuesday Evening Prayer meetings, on the path of Community, the Journey will provide a passageway toward maturity. To help categorize all the ministries of Westgate Chapel, we placed them into four categories. A place to belong, a place to grow, a place to heal and a place to serve. These serve as entry points for the Journey.

To help you determine where you should “plug in” we have developed a self assessment survey, which is available on page 6, that will help you take the next step in the ministries of Westgate Chapel, Where ever the Lord has you now, we believe that the Holy Spirit  is beckoning all of us forward into a deeper relationship with Him and His church.

We hope that you take that next step in your walk with Christ and join us this fall in drawing nearer to the Lord by joining us on “The Journey!”
