Special Connections
Sundays – 11:15am
Special Connections is a class designed for children with special needs. Often, parents of children with special needs have to take turns going to church or they spend their time walking the foyer because the Sunday school classes are unable to accommodate them. Special Connections allows families to attend church together.
Each week we schedule time to read and talk about the lesson, do a craft, listen to music, and enjoy snack time. However, we understand a child with Down Syndrome learns differently from a child with autism and we structure each week accordingly.
Free play equals learning so we allow lots of time for free play, whether that be sitting quietly reading a book, bouncing balls or playing with trains. We also have a ball pit to encourage sensory play and carpeted stairs to build physical strength.
If you have a child with special needs, we invite you to check out Special Connections and pray you find a place to belong here at Westgate Chapel.
